Community Development Director

Description
City of Villa Rica is looking for a Community Development Director.

This position performs complex supervisory, and administrative work in overseeing all operations in the areas of Planning & Zoning, Building Inspection, Code Enforcement, Alcohol and Occupational Tax Licensing.

Requirements

  • Oversees organizational support and liaison to Planning Commission, Downtown Development Authority, Main Street Program, Villa Rica Development Authority, Historic Preservation and Beautification committees.
  • Evaluates programs and services and formulates short and long term plans to meet needs in the Planning & Zoning, including comprehensive and strategic planning, site plan review, review zoning case analysis and mapping/database operations.
  • Develops department annual budget request; monitors and authorizes expenditures within approved budgetary constraints.
  • Serves as governmental liaison for regional, county, state and federal boards and commissions;
  • Evaluates programs and services and formulates short and long term plans to meet needs including comprehensive and strategic planning, development review and inspection, code compliance and economic development;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning or closely related field. A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible and supervisory community development experience; or equivalent of combination of education and experience.
  • GIS experience desired.
  • Valid GA Driver’s License required.
