SUMMARY:Living Beyond Expectations: Tactical Urbanism
DESCRIPTION:What is Tactical Urbanism and how can it help revitalize our cities? How do older adults experience the aging process\, and still desire to remain active in their communities? And how do these two ideas connect? \nThis workshop will provide an overview of the concept of Tactical Urbanism – in use in many cities through- out the world as a way to engage residents in reclaiming spaces for all users. Participants will then be invited to see this concept – and the resulting build-out and project demonstration – through the lens of older adults. Those in attendance will come away with a better understanding of this concept and how it will be implemented on the ground in concert with the Old 4th Ward community of Atlanta. \nThis training will feature Mike Lydon\, internationally recognized planner and expert in the field. Lydon has been featured on CNN\, The New York Times\, and NPR for his work on livable cities.
