DESCRIPTION:The City of Thomasville has purchased the Roses Department Store with the hopes of creating a new downtown Events Center. The consulting firm of Looney Ricks Kiss has been hired to assist the City with establishing a vision for a timeless civic building that is fully integrated into the community. It is anticipated that the facility will host events ranging from local meetings to regional conferences to wedding receptions. Additionally\, a number of other uses might share the space. The possibilities are limitless. \nThe charrette will take place at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church Parish Hall\, just across the street from the proposed event’s center site. \nOpening Presentation: Monday\, June 1\, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.Closing Presentation: Wednesday\, June 3\, from 5:30-7:30 pm. \nWe look forward to seeing you there.

DESCRIPTION:The core objective of this analytical course is to explain the financial tools used to stimulate private sector investment that results in the creation of permanent\, private sector jobs\, increased productivity and improvement in the local tax base. Specifically\, the course will review current debt\, equity\, grant and incentive-based financing programs that are accessible to practitioners both rural and urban. Moreover\, course participants will learn how to calculate debt/service ratios\, cash on cash rate of return\, capitalization rates\, underwriting ratios\, debt coverage ratios and similar financial tools used to identify project feasibility. Course instructors will also spend time teaching how potential investors measure return on investment (ROI) how lenders evaluate risk. Participants will have an opportunity to work through multiple case studies in order to solidify their knowledge of the finance programs. \nMore information
