SUMMARY:Addressing Environmental Justice in Transportation Projects (CM | 7.5)
DESCRIPTION:Adrian Collaborative\, LLC\, is a local planning firm and an approved CM provider based in Duluth. We are conducting a 2-day course on March 26-27: Addressing Environmental Justice in Transportation Projects. \nDetails and registration: http://adrian-ej.eventbrite.com/ \nThe training is most relevant for planners involved with NEPA\, local land use policy in suburban growth areas\, and transportation planning professionals or staff. Topics will include: \n\nUnderstanding terms\, study areas\, and methodology\nEstimating induced land use changes and influence on comprehensive plans\nIndirect impacts on sensitive resources\nCumulative impact spatial and temporal boundaries\nAnalysis tools and impacts\nTeam case studies with guest expert panels to provide project input\n\nAmong the topics will be community outreach to minority or low-income populations\, data collection\, and analysis of potential impacts on these communities from transportation projects. PDH and CM credits will be available (7.5 CM including 1.5 Law have been applied for with AICP).

SUMMARY:GPA Planner's Lunch (CM | 3.0)
DESCRIPTION:In cooperation with the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission we will hold a planner’s lunch in Rome\, GA. \nLeigh Burns\, Outreach Program Manager\, Preservation Planner\, & Certified Local Government Program Coordinator\, Historic Preservation Division\, Georgia Department of Natural Resources will speak on historic preservation and planning. \nKevin McAuliff is an Environmental Planner with the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission. In addition\, he is Secretary of the Whitfield County Historic Preservation Commission and of the non-profit Save Dalton’s Battlefields\, and sits on the Administrative Committee of the Dalton Historic Preservation Commission and the board of Chieftains Museum. Kevin will talk about a grassroots effort in Whitfield County to purchase and preserve important Civil War battlefield sites. \nDuring lunch\, Alvin Jackson and/or Ron Sitterding will discuss the history and importance of Old Main School (circa 1934)\, and the recent renovation so that nonprofit agencies could use the structure for administrative offices and programs that serve disadvantaged youth in the community. \nDownload registration form
