Early voting has already begun across the state.To view sample ballots and check your registration status\, visit the Georgia Online Voter Registration Page.  \nGeorgia has open primary elections – voters do not have to declare affiliation with a party in order to vote\, but they must choose one party’s ballot (Republican\, Democratic\, or nonpartisan) on election day. If you want to vote for one party’s candidate in the primary\, you must choose that party’s ballot. Voters are tied to party affiliation within the election cycle if there is a runoff. (e.g.\, If you choose a Republican ballot on May 24 and there is a runoff for a Democratic seat\, you cannot switch parties to vote in the Democratic party runoff.)

With the passage of the bipartisan infrastructure law\, new resources are now becoming available for local governments\, which makes this an especially important time for communities to be setting clean energy goals and planning how to use resources effectively. This workshop will highlight two complementary tools. The SLOPE Scenario Planner allows users to build\, view\, and compare energy scenarios through the year 2050. \nJoin us in this NREL workshop to discover: \n\nwhat will it mean for your community as the grid is decarbonized\,\nas more drivers choose electric vehicles\,\nas building heating is electrified\,\nand energy loads become more flexible?\n\nYou will explore energy consumption\, carbon emissions and system costs for your county during the live demo. DESCRIPTION:Redesigning Cities at Georgia Institute of Technology is a series of presentations + conversations between leading experts that address a range of 21st Century urban challenges: social capital\, equity\, climate change\, outdated infrastructure\, disruptive technologies\, and money. The series is hosted by Ellen Dunham-Jones\, professor and director of the Master of Science in Urban Design degree in the Georgia Tech School of Architecture. \nEpisode 25: Redesigning Cities for Public Health\nDr. Richard Jackson\, emeritus professor of public health at UCLA and former Director of the CDC National Center for Environmental Health and has argued that architects and planners can have more impact on the health of the next generation of kids than all the physicians in the world. His words are best proven correct through the work of renowned architect Michael Murphy of MASS Design Group\, dedicated to the construction of dignity and rooted in healthcare design. Listen in on their conversation reinvigorating what it means today to design for health\, safety\, and welfare. \nSpeakers\nDr. Richard Jackson\nProfessor emeritus at the Fielding School of Public Health at UCLA\, where he was Chair in Environmental Health Science. A pediatrician\, he has served in many leadership positions with the California Health Department\, including the highest as the State Health Officer. For nine years he was Director of the CDC’s National Center for Environmental Health and received the Presidential Distinguished Service Award. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine. Dick Jackson lectures and speaks on many issues\, particularly those related to Climate Heating\, Built Environment\, and Health. He has served on numerous environmental and health boards\, as well as the Board of Directors of the AIA. He is an elected Honorary Fellow of the AIA and elected Honorary Fellow of the ASLA. \nMichael Murphy\, Int FRIBA\nFounding Principal and Executive Director of MASS Design Group\, a collective of architecture and design advocates dedicated to the construction of dignity. His portfolio documents work in over a dozen countries and spans the areas of healthcare\, education\, housing\, urban development\, food systems\, Indigenous sovereignty\, and the public monument. His 2016 TED talk has over a million views\, he was awarded the Al Filipov Medal for Peace and Justice in 2017\, and was recently awarded the position of Ventulett Distinguished Chair in Architectural Design at Georgia Tech.
