DESCRIPTION:On October 11\, 1968\, GPA was registered as a non-profit organization. Over the coming year\, we will be celebrating this golden anniversary\, and plan to first kickoff that celebration with the November First Friday happy hour. \nOver the years\, GPA and Georgia Tech’s planning program have each taken the lead in organizing First Friday events. GPA\, the Georgia Tech Student Planning Association\, and GPA’s Emerging Planners Group (EPG) will be co-hosting this event at Fado Irish Pub in Midtown Atlanta. \nFado is two blocks from the Midtown MARTA station and a Tech Trolley stop\, and deck parking is available in Metropolis. DESCRIPTION:This course clearly articulates the eight-stage process for real estate development and reuse. Specifically\, course participants will learn the fundamentals of market and site analysis\, financial feasibility\, and what political considerations are required to move a development project from conception to realization. Additionally\, this course will cover a wide variety of financing tools that are available at the local\, regional\, and state levels\, including tax increment financing\, bond financing\, tax credits\, tax abatements\, land assembly\, and brownfield redevelopment. The event will be held at the former Waynesboro ice plant (260 Barron Street\, Waynesboro)\, now owned by the city government and operated as an community center.
