SUMMARY:A Virtual EDI Symposium
DESCRIPTION:In honor of International Women’s Day 2023\, the Georgia Planning Association Equity\, Diversity & Inclusion Committee presents The Gendered Conversation: A Virtual EDI Symposium featuring \n\nKeli Kemp\, AICP\, PP\, Modern Mobility Partners\nSonia Hirt\, FAICP Dean of the University of Georgia College of Environment + Design\, and\nEllen Bassett\, Dean of Georgia Tech’s School of City and Regional Planning.\n\nThis first symposium intends to help shed light on and provide space for dialogue and education on important diversity and equity-related topics\, focusing on women and BIPOC in planning practice and education. One of the priorities of the EDI Committee is to expand our outreach to broader\, younger\, and more diverse people in the hopes of generating interest in urban/community planning and related professions. \nFor some context\, the theme for International Women’s Day 2023 is “Imagine a gender-equal world. A world free of bias\, stereotypes\, and discrimination. A world that is diverse\, equitable\, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.” Our guests will speak about their personal and professional experiences both in and out of academia and offer some insights from their research and practice areas. \n1.5 CM equity credits will be available. \nJoin Zoom Meeting \nMeeting ID: 850 4130 7650\nPasscode: 499441\nOne tap mobile\n+13017158592\,\,85041307650#\,\,\,\,*499441# US (Washington DC)\n+13052241968\,\,85041307650#\,\,\,\,*499441# US

SUMMARY:Parks & Greenspace Conference
DESCRIPTION:Park Pride’s annual Parks & Greenspace Conference is the largest parks conference in the southeast\, showcasing thought leaders from Atlanta and across the nation.Through education and inspiration\, the conference focuses on best practices for those united by a common desire to improve parks and strengthen communities. \nThe past few years have affirmed the importance of parks for our physical and mental well-being. The healing power of parks\, however\, goes beyond personal health. Public greenspaces are also where community bonds are formed\, diverse ideas are experienced\, and where cultural enrichment flourishes. \nWe also look to parks to heal and strengthen the urban environment—to manage stormwater\, reduce flooding\, cool and filter the air\, and provide natural habitat. \nA strong park system has the capacity to fulfill all these roles\, creating resilient urban ecosystems while offering the personal health and community benefits we seek. In this way\, parks are a natural healthcare system\, ensuring cities and inhabitants thrive long into the future. \nJoin us at the 2023 Parks & Greenspace Conference\, where we will discuss all this and more while exploring The Healing Power of Parks. \nLearn More and Register
