TCF, LLC, based in East Point, Georgia, is a land use planning firm specializing in zoning, land use, project management, community engagement and economic development, is actively seeking a qualified Director of Planning Services to join our team of professionals.

Job Requirements
Responsibilities

  • Oversees the recruitment, employment, evaluation, and release of staff and contract personnel.
  • Supervises all planning staff, either directly or indirectly through Senior Staff
  • Is a lead participant in the development of Planning Services priorities, objectives, and goals,
  • Research new processes and technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Oversees, implements and monitors Planning Services operations budget
  • Manages human resources issues for Planning Services
  • Reviews all planning staff reports and presentations
  • Promotes a workplace environment based on professionalism, collaborative, respect, and accountability
  • Evaluates planning-related legislation and applicability to projects
  • Develop and provide monthly reports on the activities of Planning Services to Managing Partner
  • Required to attend evening and some weekend meetings including City Council meetings, Boards and Commission Meeting, public hearings and other meetings as assigned
  • Serve as project manager for comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, planning studies, planning staff extension and other planning initiatives
  • Facilitate public meetings, including community meetings, visioning exercises, character preference surveys and design charrettes
  • Preparation and presentation of information to elected and appointed boards and authorities, local government staff, and citizens
  • Coordination of planning and related activities with local and regional government staff

Core Competencies

  • Considerable knowledge of the theory, principles and techniques of the planning profession and development process
  • Considerable knowledge of federal, state and local laws, ordinances and codes pertaining to a wide variety of planning topics
  • Considerable knowledge of principles of personnel management, including supervision, training and performance evaluation
  • Considerable knowledge of the methods and techniques of research and analysis
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles of budgeting and finance
  • Knowledge of real estate terminology, laws, practices, principles, and regulations
  • Experience in preparing planning and zoning documents such as comprehensive plans, planning studies, and zoning ordinances

  • Proven management skills and ability to manage day-to-day operations
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the editing, oversight or preparation of technical reports, and the presentation of information to government entities and various committees

  • Skilled in the operation of a computer pertaining to the use of GIS, Microsoft Office application, including processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and projecting tracking

Preferred Qualifications
This position level requires a master’s degree in urban planning, public administration or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible planning experience with four (5) years of experience in a supervisory capacity. Preference may be given to applicants with municipal planning experience and possessing AICP Certification.
