Description
The University System of Georgia (USG) is Georgia’s public university system comprised of 26 institutions with a space portfolio of 113M GSF at 70+ campuses and sites that support instruction, research, and extension. The position resides within the University System Office (USO), which provides central staff support to the Chancellor and governing Board of Regents (BOR) of the USG. The position reports within USO Real Estate and Facilities (REF).

The Director of Planning manages, validates, and analyzes USG system space data, and collaborates with system and institution personnel to guide campus master planning and capital plan development. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and resourceful planner/analyst with professional experience in college/university campus planning and space data management/analysis/methodology and a focus on optimizing the value and outcome of capital investment in public higher education.

  • Manage and execute system facilities data and space utilization methodology, analysis, and reporting.
  • Manage procurement/scoping efforts for campus master planning; provide advisory support to campus planning initiatives.
  • Coordinate and support institution capital plan proposal development and submission, and the evaluation and development of system capital plans and budget recommendations.
  • Lead and support initiative to evaluate and implement campus space data technology with digital floor plans.
  • Collaborate with other institution and USO professionals (e.g. budget and finance, academic affairs, information technology services, research and policy analysis) in facilities-related planning and assessment functions.
  • Manage and execute ad hoc/special projects, analyses and reports.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in planning or other appropriate discipline
  • At least five (5) years relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree from an accredited university in planning or other appropriate discipline
  • Significant professional experience in higher education facilities planning and space data management at a system office, institution, or as a consultant.
  • Proficiency in collection, validation, analysis, and visualization of complex multi-source data sets, preferably using Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including stakeholder engagement and facilitation within complex group dynamics.
  • Knowledge of the use and implementation of industry-standard technology platforms for campus space data management and analysis.

Salary Range
$90-115k
