Description of Job / Position
Middle Georgia Regional Commission is seeking to fill the position of Government Services Specialist. A Government Services Specialist is responsible for assisting local governments in areas of community planning, economic development, local laws and ordinances, hazard mitigation, personnel management, environmental issues, transportation, historic preservation, and grant preparation and administration. This position requires a talented individual who can engage collaboratively with local governments in a professional, resourceful, trustworthy, accountable, efficient, and innovative manner.
The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented individual who can engage effectively with coworkers and community members in the process of providing quality customer service. Candidates should possess a strong vision and desire for facilitating positive change that moves the region forward. A candidate must be able to address challenges with enthusiasm and positive energy that demonstrates a love for the work of growing and improving communities.
Qualified applicants should, at a minimum, have a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Urban Planning or related field from an accredited college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge or experience in transportation planning and mobility management is a plus. A master’s degree in Public Administration, Public Policy or Urban Planning is preferred.
Salary & Benefits
The starting salary for this position ranges from the mid $40s to the mid $50s, plus benefits. A summary of the full benefits packages offered is available on request.
