In-House Land Use Planner

  • Analysis and drafting of rezoning requests: Includes direct client and consultant engagement to obtain all necessary deliverables as part of an application.
  • Assembling and mailing all needed community meeting notices
  • Tracking the scheduling of all public meetings and hearings, including assignment of court reporters as needed.
  • Code drafting.
  • Presentations at public hearings: NPUs, community councils, CZIMs, Planning Commissions, and Board of Zoning appeals. Rare appearances in front of Commissioners or Council.
  • Maintenance of all online files regarding zoning applications for internal record keeping.
  • Tracking and billing time spent on tasks.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in public planning function in Georgia, on current and future planning issues.
  • Thorough knowledge of nature of and differences between various types of land use approvals (zoning, Comp Plan amendments, variances, special exceptions, overlay districts (including historical), conditional use permitting, subdivision approval, DRI processing, and text amendments.)
  • Experience with land development and building permitting, sewer and water allocations, and general governmental plan review a plus but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning preferred.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) preferred.
  • Existing relationships with planning department personnel a plus.

Salary & Benefits
$85,000 – $95,000
