Description of Job / Position
Forsyth County is looking for a Planner II for the Current Planning Division. The role of the Planner II is to conduct reviews of land disturbance permit applications (LDPs) for commercial/industrial developments and major/minor subdivisions, subdivision plats, site plans, grading plans, elevations, legal descriptions, surveys, or other documentation for proposed projects; reviews development plans for new lots; reviews as-built drawings for certificates of occupancy, reviews applications for architectural review; meets with applicant, agents, or other parties as needed. Approves subdivision plats for recording as legal document.

Forsyth County borders Lake Sidney Lanier and is ideally located between Atlanta and the Blue Ridge mountains of North Georgia, which provides recreational opportunities throughout the year.

Provides information and technical assistance to citizens, property owners, land developers, contractors, architects, staff members, County officials, or other individuals/ agencies regarding land use issues, codes/ordinances, land development review procedures, site plan reviews, or land disturbance permits.

Assists in developing, editing, or updating division policies, procedures, Unified Development Code, or other documents.

Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or closely related field; supplemented by three (3) years previous experience and/or training involving urban planning, local/regional land use, zoning, land development plan review, site plan review, and personal computer operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

A Master’s Degree in Urban Planning or closely related field and/or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification is encouraged.

Salary & Benefits
The annual salary range for this position $45,405.00-$70,378.00 DOQ.
