Description

  • Develops and analyze demographic information for each school attendance zone.
  • Determines growth impact including projections and trend data to determine school capacity and growth needs. Including but not limited to enrollment impacts, five-year projections to determine facility needs
  • Collects and analyze information on potential District boundary changes and changes in political jurisdictions that affect the District
  • Reviews existing facility utilization for each school including facility capacity determination
  • Supports the redistricting and any other planning efforts undertaken by the Planning Department, including representing at public meetings
  • Interacts with other school systems and governmental bodies to gain needed data (street files, aerial imagery, etc.) to ensure the DCSD map is as accurate as possible; makes recommendations to correct any inaccuracies in data
  • Creates and monitors a plan to provide additional facilities as growth dictates for existing and new schools and administrative facilities
  • Prepares reports for all planning activity metrics and analyze all results to recommend required improvements in performance and collaborate with leadership to forecast all required strategies
  • Supervises, and assigns work to planning staff and ensures appropriate training is provided
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with school district, local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Assists in the budget preparation and administration; monitors and controls expenditures

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of data forecasting techniques, data management, and automated queries (in Excel and database management systems)
  • Knowledge of organizational and department planning procedures relating to control of planned activities
    including budgeting and spending, and public meeting management
  • Knowledge of school system organizational structure and departments within the district
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Skilled in maintaining accurate records, interpreting student attendance data, and demographic data from government and private sources
  • Administration and management skills gained through increasingly responsible management positions
  • Skill in analyzing data and conducting queries in an efficient manner, mapping complex data sets
  • Skill in working with diverse groups and making large and small group presentations
  • Ability to direct and administer the programs and services of a non-profit educational and/or service organization
  • Ability to recognize situations requiring spatial analyses and/or data query procedures
  • Ability to use relevant computer applications including but not limited to ArcGIS and necessary extensions for geospatial analyses and mapping
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and manage multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction and other technical documents
