Coastal Regional Commission
Work with public officials in ten county region on variety of planning projects and tasks including, comprehensive planning, economic development, transportation, natural resource protection, land use regulations and zoning and grant writing and administration. Respond to technical assistance requests for specific issues relating to local governmental and economic development needs. Manages contracts and projects as assigned.
Requires sound interdisciplinary knowledge of all facets of urban and regional planning. Knowledge of grant application process and writing of applications; various grant programs available to regional and local governments; knowledge of loan documents to track the disposition of funding with project managers and funding agencies.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Urban, City or Regional Planning or closely related field
Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to interact with local government officials, CRC departments and other agencies as a team player to coordinate grant projects. Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules and regulations. Ability to plan, prioritize and coordinate multiple projects. Ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate a variety of data. Demonstrated research, writing and coordination of the activities of economic development, grant and/or loan programs skills. Excellent organization and oral communication skills. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines for grant opportunities. Ability to take initiative and utilize innovative techniques and ingenuity in preparing applications.
Experience: Ten years increasingly responsible duties (with Bachelor’s Degree), or 5-7 years (with Master’s Degree). Economic credentials preferred.
