Description
This professional planning position under the administrative direction of the Community Development Director is responsible for managing the activities of the Planning and Zoning Division of the Community Development Department. This position primarily responds to complex zoning inquiries: researches and prepares drafts of interpretations of the Zoning Ordinance and reports. In addition, the position is responsible for performing complex professional level work in the field of short-range and long-range planning and provides information and assistance to departments; the Mayor and City Council, City of McDonough Advisory Boards; developers; the business community, neighborhood representatives and the general public on land use issues, and other development related matters.

Work involves the utilization of planning and zoning principals and methodology in the formulation and implementation of various zoning studies, reports, projects, and recommendations. In addition, work may include practical code or plan analysis and recommendations for various public and private entities. Supervision is received from the Community Development Director.

Job Requirements

  • Possesses a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in urban planning or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience, or a related field preferred.
  • Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License; satisfactory motor vehicle record; acceptable criminal history,
  • Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
