This free event is intended to broaden applicant pools and enhance the fit between graduating students in architecture\, city and regional planning\, geographic information science\, public policy and urban design and employers\, but it also serves to open doors for intern placements and later employment. The fair will take place on Friday\, March 6\, 2015. \nWith the current economic situation\, fit between employee and employer has never been more important. DESCRIPTION:This year\, Georgia Tech’s Architecture\, City and Regional Planning\, and Public Policy schools will once again cooperate on a Career Fair to help you recruit the best professionals. This free event is intended to broaden applicant pools and enhance the fit between graduating M.Arch\, MCRP\, and MSPP students and employers\, but it also serves to open doors for intern placements and later employment. The fair will take place on Friday\, March 15\, 2013.  \nWith hundreds of students studying Architecture\, City and Regional Planning\, and Public Policy\, there is a large pool of students seeking either permanent positions or summer internships. MCRP students’ interests cover a wide range of planning specializations including land use\, land development and housing\, economic development\, transportation planning\, environmental planning\, geographic information systems\, and urban design. Some students are pursuing dual degrees jointly with Architecture\, Civil Engineering\, Law\, or Public Policy. M.Arch students have the opportunity to focus in concentrated areas of architecture such as Architecture/Engineering/Construction Integration\, Digital Design and Fabrication\, High Performance Building and Health and Design to name a few. The wide variety of focused areas available to M.Arch students make them well prepared to lead the field with their uniquely competitive skill sets. MSPP students specialize in environmental\, energy\, science & technology\, economic development\, social\, information and communications\, urban\, and health policies and public management. \nWith the current economic situation\, fit between employee and employer has never been more important. SUMMARY:The City and the Coming Climate Book Talk
DESCRIPTION:Join Associate Professor of City and Regional Planning Brian Stone as he discusses his new book\, The City and the Coming Climate: Climate Change in the Places We Live.  This book is the first to explore the dramatic amplification of global warming underway in cities and the range of actions that individuals and governments can undertake to slow the pace of warming. A core thesis of the book is that the principal strategy currently advocated to mitigate climate change–the reduction of greenhouse gases–will not prove sufficient to measurably slow the rapid pace of warming in urban environments. Brian Stone explains the science of climate change in terms accessible to the nonscientist and with compelling anecdotes drawn from history and current events. The book is an ideal introduction to climate change and cities for students\, policy makers\, and anyone who wishes to gain insight into an issue critical to the future of our cities and the people who live in them. \nFor more information\, please visit their website.
