The City of Ball Ground is seeking a collaborative and results-driven professional to serve as Assistant City Manager / Community Development Director. This dual-role position is essential to the City’s executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing community development functions and supporting the City Manager with a wide range of administrative and operational initiatives.
Job Requirements
This position oversees key departments and functions, including:
- Planning and Zoning
- Building Permits and Inspections
- GIS
- Parks and Recreation
- Comprehensive and Strategic Planning
- Economic Development Initiatives
In addition to direct oversight of these areas, the Assistant City Manager will assist the City Manager in managing:
- Municipal Utilities
- Budget Preparation and Administration
- Transportation Planning and Infrastructure Projects
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Political Science, Business Administration, or a closely related field is required. A master’s degree is preferred. Equivalent experience or specialized training may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Significant experience in community development, planning, and zoning is essential.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government or public administration, including supervisory and project management responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage complex projects, and work effectively with elected officials, staff, and the public.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
