Policy and Advocacy Committee Update

Sine Die, the final day of this year’s Georgia General Assembly (GGA) Regular Session, is coming up on April 4.  The PAC would like to provide an update on the following bills:

  • HB 1406: The Zoning Procedures bill survived Crossover Day, and it was favorably reported by the Senate Committee on March 17. The bill, if enacted, will slow and discourage communities from addressing the housing crisis through regulatory reform. Please continue efforts to contact your local Senator to oppose HB 1406.
  • HB713/SB 535: The Reducing Street Homelessness Act failed to crossover on March 15. GPA’s advocacy may have helped to stall these bills, so thanks to all who responded to the call for action.

If you are interested in joining the PAC, contact Jim Summerbell to learn how to get involved. After the legislative session concludes, the PAC meetings will move to a monthly frequency rather than meeting every Friday.
