Form-based codes foster predictable built results and a high-quality public realm by using physical form and design (rather than separation of uses) as the organizing principle for the code. Form-based codes offer a powerful alternative to conventional zoning, allowing communities to consider more than land use and density.

This half-day course is an interactive course, answering the following questions by using examples from around the country as well as visiting a local site. The course will provide a basic understanding of form-based codes:
