Georgia Conservancy’s “Drinks and Discussion”

May 26, 2011

Our city streets are not just a means of driving from one place to another. They’re among our most vital public spaces that should foster walking, biking and a sense of community.

Our often overlooked city streets will be the focus of the Georgia Conservancy’s next “Drinks and Discussion” on May 26 at the Conservancy’s offices in Midtown Atlanta.

To spark the conversation, Rebecca Serna from the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition will talk about the Atlanta Streets Alive program and the street festivals they have planned this summer.

In addition, a representative from the city of Atlanta will be on hand to discuss the streetcar line that will soon be built in downtown Atlanta.

“The goal of the night is to spread the word about alternative modes of transit and smart street design,” says Georgia Conservancy urban designer, Deanna Murphy. “For the health of our planet and community, streets shouldn’t just be for automobiles.”

We’ve got the drinks. You bring the discussion.
