Georgia Tech Virtual Welcome Reception and Panel Discussion
August 14, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm
Each August, GPA hosts a joint welcome reception at Georgia Tech for their planning students, alumni, and other GPA members. This year, Georgia Tech will be having an online event instead of an in-person event due to COVID-19. But it’s not easy to grab a drink and do the usual networking that’s a part of this event if we’re all staring at a computer monitor.
So we decided to change things up this year. We’ll begin with a welcome from Georgia Tech and GPA leadership, and then have a panel discussion on an important planning topic. This panel will focus on race and planning and how planners can more effectively work with underserved communities. The panelists will include:
- Inga Kennedy, President, Planners for Environmental Quality (PEQ)
- Mike Dobbins, Professor of the Practice, Georgia Tech
- Marian Liou, Principal Program Specialist, Atlanta Regional Commission
- Moderator: Sidney Douse, GPA Treasurer
This event is eligible for 1 AICP CM credit. We hope you’ll join us and provide your comments and questions during the discussion. No advanced registration is necessary.
