The UGA River Basin Center and UGA School of Law Land Conservation Clinic will co-host a Local Wetlands Protection Workshop at the Delta Innovation Hub at the University of Georgia.

The US Supreme Court Sackett decision has sharply reduced federal protection of many wetlands. However, counties and municipalities concerned with loss of their wetland resources have multiple options for local management. This workshop will cover:

• Background on wetlands and the federal wetlands regulatory system
• How the legal landscape is evolving
• Options for local government wetlands protection, including model ordinances and conservation programs

County and municipal government officials, representatives of watershed NGOs, and others are welcome.
