Description
We are seeking an individual to supervise operations and activities of the Development Review Division. This Division is responsible for the review of land disturbance permits, subdivision plats and other similar requests.

  • Assignments involve organizing and evaluating the review of land disturbance permits, plats, and other similar requests.
  • Responsible for a variety of planning projects, including all aspects of the development review process and related code revisions.
  • Works independently in a highly visible position, advising various boards on current planning issues.
  • Maintains regular contact with other agencies in order to ensure consistency in policy, rules, and statutes for issues related to current planning.
  • Assign work, supervise staff, and manage daily planning activities for Development Review Division planning staff.
  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals; conducts interviews and makes hiring recommendations; conducts or coordinates training activities.
  • Coordinates daily work activities; organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with assigned staff, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise.
  • Ensures division compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; ensures adherence to established safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
  • Consults with Director of Planning & Community Development and other officials to review division operations/activities, review/resolve problems, receive advice/direction, and provide recommendations.
  • Attends various meetings; participates on various committees and ad hoc committees; presents division documentation and recommendations at meetings.
  • Provides information and technical assistance to citizens, property owners, land developers, contractors, architects, staff members, County officials, or other individuals/agencies regarding planning/zoning issues, land use issues, codes/ordinances, plan reviews, land development review procedures, permits, fees, or other issues; responds to routine questions or complaints; researches problems and initiates problem resolution.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or closely related field;
  • Supplemented by six (6) years previous experience and/or training that includes urban planning, local/regional land use, zoning, land development plan review, site plan review, budget administration, supervision, and personal computer operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. AICP (American Institute of
  • Certified Planners) certification and Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission Level II (GSWCC) are preferred.

Salary Range
$70,087.00 – $92,866.00 Annually
