Under the leadership and direction of the Planning and Zoning Director, this position typically performs supervisory, managerial, and training support over Planning and Zoning personnel; oversees the administration, delegation, and coordination of technical work; develops and implements strategies to maximize departmental efficiency and improve process; conducts a variety of professional and technical duties related to current land use development, zoning compliance and enforcement, and long-range planning initiatives; and deals courteously and effectively with fellow employees, applicants, the public at large, and other stakeholder audiences.
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree in Planning, Urban Studies, or closely related field required;
- Five (5) years of related planning experience with at least three (3) years of experience in team and/or project management or equivalent combination of education and/or experience;
- American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification required;
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license for South Carolina with safe driving record;
- Departmental testing may be administered during interview;
- A criminal background check will be completed on selected applicant if a current one (less than 3 years old) is not on file.
Salary Range
$86,650.40 – $112,645.52 Annually
