Description
Working as a Transportation Program Manager under the direction of the Deputy Chief of Transportation Analysis:
- Leads program management efforts administering GTEA’s responsibility for the review and approval of the ARC TIP on behalf of the Governor. Ensures that TIP-related summary materials are prepared in a timely and accurate manner for GTEA executives and board members.
- Works closely with ARC, GDOT, other GTEA staff as appropriate, and other modal transportation agencies to collaborate with state and regional planning partners to establish, maintain, and track implementation of a performance-based framework for the development and review of the TIP. The Transportation Program Manager manages team efforts to utilize the TIP framework to inform GTEA’s review and action on the TIP, supervising other staff and managing consultant contracts as relevant.
- Assists with management of and continuous improvement of GTEA’s DRI program. Coordinates, reviews, and provides recommendations for DRIs submitted to GTEA. Works closely with regional commissions, GDOT, local governments, and developers to understand transportation-related issues associated with developments and recommend measures to mitigate potential impacts from those developments.
The role manages the TIP program and supports the DRI program, ensuring both stay aligned and that their interdependencies are considered during reviews and updates. It requires coordinating with internal teams, preparing reports and presentations for leadership and the board, keeping public‑facing TIP/DRI information current, and overseeing consultant work.
For the TIP program, the role leads review meetings with partners, ensures accurate and timely board materials, coordinates updates and amendments, and maintains strong relationships with ARC, GDOT, and other stakeholders.
For DRIs, the role attends and coordinates stakeholder meetings, reviews developer transportation studies, helps set conditions for decisions, works with engineers on complex cases, and collaborates with local governments, commissions, and developers.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining excellent customer service, staying current on industry trends, sharing knowledge internally, pursuing professional development, and performing other assigned duties.
The position requires strong consensus‑building, organization, communication, and presentation skills; the ability to work independently or collaboratively; program evaluation abilities; familiarity with transportation planning and funding; and the capability to supervise staff and consultants.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in transportation planning, city planning, urban planning, public administration, civil engineering, management, or business administration from an accredited college or university
- PLUS a minimum of two (2) years of work experience relating to transportation planning.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret transportation plans and development site plans.
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and Project): excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
Salary Range
$65,000 – $80,000
