Description
We are seeking a full-time, mid-career Urban Designer/Project Manager to join our team in the Atlanta Office. The position requires strong urban design and planning skills, with an emphasis on working with public sector clients on downtown plans, small area plans, corridor studies, and other design-forward community planning and land use projects.
When you step into this role, you will have the opportunity to lead innovative, reality-based design plans across the southeast. You will gain hands-on experience with our planners and designers, work directly with clients, mentor young designers and planners, and help grow our urban design practice. A typical day may include:
- Working with clients on all project phases, from existing conditions, to design, to implementation
- Visiting project sites
- Engaging with stakeholders and the broader public
- Developing highly graphic, beautiful project documents
- Coordinating project tasks, schedules, and budgets amongst a diverse team of professionals
- Presenting ideas to elected officials
- Mentoring entry-level team members
- Representing TSW at industry events
- Crafting proposals
- Creating award-winning work!
Job Requirements
- A portfolio of work that demonstrates knowledge of urban design principles and concepts, as well as skill in creating compelling visuals
- Masters degree in Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Planning, or similar and 6+ years of urban design experience
- Fluency in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) and SketchUp
- Strong writing and public speaking skills
- A passion for community and the built environment
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to set priories and meet deadlines
- Ability to physically work out of our Atlanta office at least three days per week
- A great attitude and appreciation of puns
Salary Range
Salary commensurate with experience
