Announcing the GPA 2024 Chapter Award Winners!

Through our Chapter Awards Program, GPA recognizes outstanding work in the planning profession across the state each year. The awards program honors and celebrates the projects and people who exhibit innovation, excellence, leadership, and other key attributes that advance their communities and the planning field itself, with every nomination demonstrating the merits of thoughtful planning practice.

Each year, GPA works to partner with another state association to ensure neutrality in the review and scoring of nominations and, for members of the Georgia committee, the chance to see examples of work from our peers in other states. This year, nominations for the GPA awards were reviewed by our peers in North Carolina.

While not every eligible category received nominations this year, GPA did receive a strong total of 31 nominations across seven (7) different categories. Two of the categories received nine (9) nominations each, which marks new records for us! This year’s winners include one double winner, a large-scale regional strategy, a challenging student project, and multiple examples of ways to enhance and utilize inclusive audience participation. Overall, members of the review team cited the efforts shown to deliver effective but practical plans and projects, often lauding the work of all the nominations in a category. All the winners received praise for their exemplary work for their communities and for their commitment to the planning practice in general.

We’re excited to present to you the list of the 2024 winners for the Georgia Planning Association’s award program, and encourage you to visit the link for each to learn more about the exciting work done by our members and for our communities!
