Georgia Tech Reception Recap

On Friday, September 5, nearly 100 planning students, faculty, staff, and GPA members gathered on a sunny evening in the Clough Rooftop Garden at Georgia Tech to celebrate incoming and returning students in the School of City and Regional Planning. GPA co-sponsored the reception.

Georgia Tech faculty and staff provided brief remarks including Gulsah Akar, Program Chair and Ellen Bassett, Dean of the College of Design. Dr. Akar introduced new program Assistant Professors Dr. Emily Barrett and Dr. Rounaq Basu. Dr. Barrett is a community-based researcher, and Dr. Basu’s research focuses on urban transportation. GPA President Kristen Wescott quizzed the attendees about the number of cities, counties, regional commissions, and metropolitan planning organizations there are in Georgia and encouraged students to take advantage of opportunities for networking and professional development, including getting actively involved in GPA.
