Georgia Tech’s MCRP Program Earns Full Accreditation

Georgia Tech’s Master of City and Regional Planning (MCRP) program has earned full accreditation from the Planning Accreditation Board (PAB). The process took a full year, starting with a comprehensive self-study report in summer 2025, followed by a PAB site visit in November 2025, and the Board’s decision in May 2026. The self-study documented every dimension of the program, from student learning outcomes to curriculum, faculty accomplishments, governance, assessment, and student success. This gave us an opportunity to reflect on the many ways the program has evolved over the past several years.

Accreditation is very much a community effort, and we are grateful to everyone who contributed. Our alumni and employers completed surveys, students shared their experiences, and many planning professionals took the time to meet with the site visit team during its visit to campus. Those conversations were invaluable in demonstrating the quality of our program and the impact of our graduates. Today, the program enrolls over 90 students and is supported by 12 full-time faculty, 7 part-time/affiliated faculty within Georgia Tech, and approximately 15 adjunct faculty, with expertise spanning transportation, housing, environmental planning, urban analytics, economic development, GIS, global development, and community planning.

We are proud of this accomplishment and grateful for the support of the Georgia planning community throughout the accreditation process. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnerships with practitioners, alumni, and employers as we educate the next generation of planners and serve communities across Georgia and beyond.
