Happy 2025 Georgia Planners!

As we begin the new year, let me take a moment to introduce the 2025 Georgia Chapter Board of Directors to you. New to the Board are President-Elect Allison Stewart-Harris, AICP and District 2 Director Lara Parker. If this is the year YOU planned to get more actively involved in GPA, the nominations for 2025 elections will open in the spring. This year, board positions for Districts 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 as well as both Vice Presidents (Chapter Services, Programs), Secretary, Treasurer, Planning Official, and two Non-AICP Directors will be on the ballot. As I begin my second year as President, I invite each of you to get more actively involved in our organization, whether it be stepping up for a board position, preparing a conference session, or joining a GPA Committee. We need you to help us be the best we can be.

The Chapter Programs Committee is delighted to announce the Spring Conference in Gainesville on March 13 and the Fall Conference in Athens from October 8 through 10. Please mark your calendars now for these opportunities to connect, share, and learn about all of the great planning happening in our state. In addition, the Programs Committee will be scheduling additional events outside of the conferences.

At the end of 2024, the Ohio Chapter offered us the opportunity to join their Planning Webcast Series for 2025. For a nominal annual fee, our Chapter membership can attend their webcasts for free! Be on the lookout for additional information on how to participate in the Planning Webcast Series.

We would love to see a great number of Georgia attendees at the National Planning Conference from March 29 through April 1 in Denver, CO. I hope to see you there!

We are preparing updates to the Annual and Conference Sponsorship programs for 2025. We thank all of our 2024 sponsors, and we will be in touch for 2025.

If you missed the annual meeting conducted virtually on December 13, you may view a recording here.

Finally, if you were severely impacted by Hurricane Helene or another natural disaster in 2024, please reach out to me directly as APA has offered some financial assistance to members nationwide.

Wishing you all a productive and prosperous New Year!

Best Regards,

Kristen Wescott, AICP
