Did you know that you or a member of your staff may be eligible to receive scholarship funds to offset the cost of attending the GPA Fall conference, as well as an upcoming Community Planning Institute (CPI) event?
The Denise Abboud Fund of the Georgia Planning Memorial Foundation (GPMF) is dedicated to helping with the education and professional development of planners and volunteer appointees that work in or provide assistance to Georgia cities and counties. Eligible persons include staff planners, zoning administrators, planning commissioners, and elected officials. Scholarships in the amount of $500 are awarded to offset costs to attend the Fall GPA Conference. There are also scholarships to attend Community Planning Institute training events, which typically occur in the spring and fall.
GPA Membership is not required for assistance from the Denise Abboud Fund, but GPA will waive the fall conference registration fee for GPA members who receive scholarships. To become a GPA member, go to www.georgiaplanning.org
Denise was a wonderful, intelligent planner and I was glad to know her. It’s great that her legacy lives on through this memorial fund for planning staff and officials.
The GPA Fall conference will be held September 27-29 in downtown Columbus, GA. The fall CPI training event has not yet been scheduled – more info to come.
Please consider filling out a scholarship form at http://georgiaplanning.org/about-gpa/memorial-foundation/ and submitting it, along with a reference letter, to GaPlanningFoundation@gmail.com on or before August 25.
