Policy and Advocacy Committee Update

In June, in conjunction with APA’s Planners’ Day, Georgia chapter members met virtually with Senator Jon Ossoff and Reverend Senator Raphael Warnock. Members also had one-on-one meetings with House staffers representing their own districts. We discussed APA’s priority to promote housing supply, and how federal support for local solutions to reform housing policy and zoning code is necessary to boost supply and affordability. Housing abundance can and should be accelerated through bipartisan fiscal and policy action this congressional session. Planners are uniquely positioned to help communities navigate change and make tough decisions – your voice in this movement matters.Â
The PAC meets semi-regularly in between state sessions, and we continue to build relationships with affiliated organizations. Know a realtor, homebuilder, or mortgage banker? Ask them if they follow what their professional organizations are up to in the legislative or policy advocacy space! The conversation starts with you.
Whether you’re interested in housing and land use, infrastructure, transportation, the environment, healthy food access, or other policy issues, the committee has resources and training that make an impact.
