President’s Message: August 2022
We haven’t slowed down for summer. Following our July Board retreat, we’re in the thick of planning a dynamic in-person Fall Conference, next year’s Mentor Program, and events focused on advocacy as well as equity, diversity, and inclusion. In July, I visited St. Simons Island for ITE’s Summer Seminar. It’s a jam-packed event combining technical sessions (including plenty of planning and policy related topics) and fun on the beach. GDOT and FHWA reviewed the impacts of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act on funding for the state, including funds directly available to local governments – a topic that we’re going to highlight with APA staff at the fall conference. Make sure September 14-16 is on your calendar! And, don’t forget to nominate local, state, or federal officials who stand up for planning for our Distinguished Leadership Award. We want to recognize our partners at all levels.
