President’s Message – June

Happy Summer Georgia Planners!

As we settle into the pace of summer, here’s a quick update of what’s going on in and around Georgia and beyond:

  • The Georgia Chapter Board will meet for its annual in-person retreat in Macon on Wednesday, June 11. Topics for discussion include a comprehensive review and update to the Chapter’s bylaws and dues; the Chapter’s Mission & Vision; membership engagement, retention and outreach; and developing a Chapter Code of Conduct.
  • The 2025 Chapter Awards nominations period will open up on June 6 and close on July 18. We are seeking nominations across a wide variety of categories from Outstanding Planning Process to Distinguished Leadership and Service Contributions. Take time to enter your nomination and recognize great planning and professionals in Georgia. The Awards will be presented at the Fall Conference.
  • The Annual Fall Conference will be here before you know it. This year, we will return to Athens from October 8-10. Session proposals will be accepted through __. We also have a wide range of Fall Conference sponsorship opportunities.
  • Be on the lookout for the APA/GPA and Division Ballot in early August to cast your vote for Georgia Chapter leadership as well as APA positions.
  • If you are AICP, the 2024-2025 reporting deadline for Certification Maintenance is December 31, 2025. If you are looking for training opportunities ahead of the Fall Conference, note the events portion of this newsletter as well as sign up to receive notifications from the Planning Webcast Series (APAOH | Planning Webcast Series) for which GPA is a partner.

Enjoy your time with family and friends this summer and take time to recharge. If you have anything you’d like to discuss, reach out to me at .

Warmest regards,
