President’s Message – September
Have we met? If not, I would enjoy that opportunity. This Friday, I will be at the Georgia Tech School of City and Regional Planning and GPA Reception. This reception resumed last year and was an opportunity to celebrate new and returning students who are our next planners.
In just over a month, we will convene for the annual Fall Conference in Athens. After missing our gathering last year, it will be great to reconnect and have conversations about how we can better serve our communities.
One topic that’s on many of our minds includes the ever evolving policy landscape. Another is connection. How do we in the Georgia Planning community better connect with and support each other? Whether we know it or not, our hyper-media world post-Covid doesn’t always bring us together. Let’s take time to have deep conversations and find common ground.
As with all of our Fall Conferences, we will celebrate our state’s best planning at the awards luncheon. The luncheon will also include the Chapter’s annual meeting. At the luncheon, let’s remember those who have mentored us and been our colleagues. If someone you know has passed this year, please send me a message.
If you haven’t yet voted, please do so today. We are selecting the future leadership for GPA and APA, and your voice and vote matters.
I look forward to seeing you soon!
Warmest regards,
Kristen Wescott
