- Gather, organize, and analyze information and data necessary to identify trends, make forecasts, make projections, and administer other activities related to comprehensive planning activities. Make recommendations regarding preferred and/or suggested changes in the Comprehensive Plan.

This position performs varied administrative, supervisory, and engineering work in the Community Development Department including analytical, technical, and organization tasks. The employee exercises supervision over engineering, construction inspection, planning projects, stormwater services, park and recreation projects, public works capital improvement projects, transportation projects, and development projects throughout the City.
This position is responsible for performing inspections of buildings and structures in all stages of construction, alteration, and repair.
The Director of Planning Development plans, monitors, manages and evaluates urban and regional planning project activities. Duties also include: Experience in preparing planning and zoning documents such as comprehensive plans, planning studies, zoning ordinances and staff reports.
