Shaw Afb And The Sumter Community: A Coordinated Comprehensive Planning Approach

SCAPA’s mid-year conference will give attendees an opportunity to visit a vital Department of Defense asset in the State for a chance to learn more about its contributions to overall planning efforts. Many practicing community, city and regional, planners lack a full understanding about military installation planning and the staff charged with directing planning activities of the military installations located in South Carolina. Trained planners are a key resource for the survival and future economic impact that a military base brings to a local community. The day –long session focuses on the Military Planning Community and the contributions made to the State of South Carolina by these facilities.
