Avalon + Alpharetta Bus Tour

October 25, 2016

We’ll convene at Colony Square in Midtown Atlanta at 9:30 AM for light breakfast before departing on the bus to Alpharetta. Mayor David Belle Isle, Alpharetta City Manager Bob Regus, and Kathi Cook, Director of Community Development, will meet us at Alpharetta’s City Hall, take us on a tour, and discuss Alpharetta’s new City Center Project. After that, we’ll hop back on the bus and head to Avalon for a catered lunch provided by Farm to Lade (see options below tickets–please choose 1 sandwich option & 1 side option), guided tours, and presentations from North American Properties’ John Kelley, VP of Development, and Liz Gillespie, VP of Marketing, on the project process, the final vision for Avalon, and more.

Avalon and the City of Alpharetta have taken ambitious, future-forward steps to redevelop their historic downtown, create a network of walking and cycling trails, and invest in a future less dependent on Alpharetta as just a job-center, but as a destination in and of itself.

In recent years, Metro Atlanta has seen a strong resurgence in real estate markets, especially among mixed-use developments. This growth has propelled Metro Atlanta among US cities for quality of life, affordability, and walkability, with multiple reports showing Atlanta in the ranks with cities such as Seattle, Washington, D.C., Austin, and others.

Across the region, local governments are reconsidering how the futures of their communities should look in light of changing market demands from Millennials and Boomers alike for denser living, walkable communities, parks and trails, and places to go without having to hop in their cars. Among these cities and developments, Avalon & Alpharetta are some of the most ambitious for their size, scope, and context.
