A Virtual EDI Symposium
March 8 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
In honor of International Women’s Day 2023, the Georgia Planning Association Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Committee presents The Gendered Conversation: A Virtual EDI Symposium featuring
- Keli Kemp, AICP, PP, Modern Mobility Partners
- Sonia Hirt, FAICP Dean of the University of Georgia College of Environment + Design, and
- Ellen Bassett, Dean of Georgia Tech’s School of City and Regional Planning.
This first symposium intends to help shed light on and provide space for dialogue and education on important diversity and equity-related topics, focusing on women and BIPOC in planning practice and education. One of the priorities of the EDI Committee is to expand our outreach to broader, younger, and more diverse people in the hopes of generating interest in urban/community planning and related professions.
For some context, the theme for International Women’s Day 2023 is “Imagine a gender-equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.” Our guests will speak about their personal and professional experiences both in and out of academia and offer some insights from their research and practice areas.
1.5 CM equity credits will be available.
