Updating the Zoning Ordinance for the 21st Century (CM | 3.0)

November 20, 2012 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

This workshop explores creating regulations that are clear, concise, defensible, user-friendly and match the right tools for a community’s needs, philosophy and goals.

What zoning ordinance is right for your com- munity—traditional, form-based, or hybrid? Should you consider mixed use districts? Trans- it-oriented development?

The Updating the Zoning Ordinance for 21st Century practicum provides overview of tradi- tional zoning, form-based code, and a hybrid, and demonstrates the technical skill, public in- volvement and objectives to help planners cre- ate ordinances that incorporate sound man- agement principles and result in regulations that can be implemented.

You’ll come away ready to prepare zoning con- tent, tailor it to your community, gain public support and put your updated code into ac- tion.
