Sponsors needed for 2013 Fall Conference

The Georgia Planning Association could not put on quality conferences and events without the generous support of our private practice members. This year is no different and we are looking for several firms to step up and sponsor the 2013 Fall Conference at Jekyll Island. This is a great opportunity to provide your fellow planners with learning and networking opportunities. This is also the opportunity for your company to show off what you have accomplished at an exhibit booth or in address to the GPA membership. Click here to commit to being a sponsor of the Georgia Planning Association Fall 2013 Conference today. If you have any questions please email Tim Preece, VP of Chapter Services.

GPA Foundation Silent Auction Items

It feels so good to help others and through our Foundation we can all feel GREAT! All you need to do is donate a gift card, a bottle of wine, that sculpture your great aunt left you in her will, a piece of art that no longer matches your décor, an autographed book by someone we might know or about whom we might care…you get the point. The Foundation Board members will put these items together to have the fundraising auction make sense…and be lots of fun. This year, it will all be done with tickets so come prepared to take home a treasure and some of that good feeling knowing that you helping to bring people to our meetings and provide other professional development opportunities to those whose agencies cannot afford to make this possible.

Call or email Marsha Anderson Bomar to arrange pickup (678-708-6148) or bring to the next luncheon and give to a Foundation Board member (Dan Reuter is always easy to spot in a crowd).

Mobile Workshops

Our Fall Conference will feature four exciting workshops that will allow you to immerse yourself into the Jekyll Island and Georgia Coast experience. The mobile workshops will include a walk on the beach, led by our Keynote Speaker Cathy Sakas with Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary. Another tour will be a leisurely bike ride around the island to learn about how developed and undeveloped areas interact with one another. Some participants will have the opportunity to board the R/V Georgia Bulldog to fish for bottom-dwelling organisms and enjoy wild Georgia shrimp straight from the ocean as you learn about the coastal environment. The mobile workshops will wrap up with a visit to the Georgia Ports Authority and a walking tour of Downtown Brunswick to learn about their impact on the state and new developments, respectively.

Please note that some of the mobile workshops require an additional registration fee to cover transportation costs. A waiting list is available for all mobile workshops.
